Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I only accept private payment or out-of-pocket payment. I do not accept insurance. I can easily provide a “superbill” or statement for you at any time. You can submit this to your insurance company for “out of network” reimbursement. If you have one, your Health Spending Account (HSA) may help in covering these costs.

What is the ‘No Surprises Act?’

This Act went into effect on January 1, 2022. It protects people covered under group and individual health plans from receiving surprise medical bills when they receive most emergency services, non-emergency services from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities, and services from out-of-network air ambulance service providers.

If requested, I am happy to provide clients with a “Good Faith Estimate” as we get therapy started. However, there is no way to know exactly how many sessions of mental health therapy a client might need, especially when a therapist is just meeting them. A “good faith estimate” is just that - a combination of my rates and a best guess at the length of treatment needed based on experience. Length of treatment is always a collaborative conversation with client and therapist.

How long will we work together?

This is something we can talk about together. A few sessions can sometimes be all it takes to help. Though usually 8-12 sessions, or more, can be what feels helpful and necessary. There is no limit to how long we can work together.

Tell me more about private payment…

Some people prefer to pay out of pocket or privately for different reasons. Paying privately allows you more choices in your health care because the insurance company is not dictating the treatment plan. Also, if paying privately, a mental health diagnosis is not required and your clinician does not have to prove that treatment is "medically necessary." This means a mental health diagnosis will not become part of your medical record and stay with you throughout your life.

I accept payment through TheraNest, a secure payment platform.

Will we meet in person or via telehealth?

Currently, the majority of offerings are via the TheraNest telehealth platform. This has been approved as a secure method for telehealth work. I do have limited spaces available for in-person sessions in Medfield, MA.

How much do your services cost?

The initial, 1 hour, session costs $200. This is an in-depth, information-gathering, goal-setting session. The following session(s) are generally 45-50 minutes and cost $175 each. If finances are a barrier for you, I do keep limited spaces open for discounted sessions. Reach out!

P.S. If this feels like a lot of money to spend on yourself, consider other places that you might save money to invest in your well-being. You are worthy of investing in yourself. Your mental health matters. A lot.
